Camping 2010

This last thursday thru sunday we went camping at Baraboo Hills Campground. It was so fun, but also challenging. Aaron is at an age where he wants to only play with rocks and dirt ... hey, maybe that will always be true for him. ha! Thank goodness mom was there to help out cause there were times that she watched the kids for us while we set up the tent, etc. I think until the kids are older, a cabin is the way to go. The kids swam in the pool, fished (they both caught bluegills!), road bikes, played mini golf, watched movies on the cabin dvd player, ate very little (they had poor appetites when we were camping), stayed up late, roasted marshmellows... great time. By pack up time on sunday I was exhausted from such little sleep (aaron was a rough sleeper at night for those 3 nights) and it was hot and humid and we had so much to pack up. Thanks again to mom for helping us. I always feel guilty having her help cause I want her to have fun too. So, thanks mom. I appreciate it.

Above is Aaron taking his first REAL steps and walking! He waited until he was 15 1/2 months old! He started crawling in February.
Then Nicholas and Celia on their way to go fishing for the first time. They did great and we hardly had to wait to catch some fish. Nicholas caught one first, then celia, then nicholas and celia wanted to catch one too so Jason snuck the fish on the pole back in the water and then had celia re-reel in the fish (she thought she was catching another one). Or maybe it was nicholas re-reeling??? I used to love going fishing, so it was so nice to fish. The only thing is I prefer not to touch the bait or the fish. hmmmmm.... ;)
We leave for Kentucky to visit Great Grandma and Great Grandpa and to spend 2 nights with the Thomas family who will be visiting from Knoxville. They have twins who are 1 day older than our twins and a 3 month old daughter. Should be fun! I should be packing instead of blogging. Shhh, don't tell Jason. lol

Buddies.

These two are the best of friends.... and sometimes the best of enemies too. ;) You wouldn't know they are twins. :) They are an absolute joy - even on days when the whining removes more pigment from my hair. Some days, as with any mom, I am pretty exasperated and ready to run out for a coffee with some other moms and just talk (which is necessary!). They are such wonderful children though. I am so entirely blessed!

Aaron's hair

I feel I should preface this post by saying this is just a snapshot . The livingroom was dark and the settings weren't ideal for getting the quality images I would prefer. But its a frame of mind I try to set aside so I can take family pictures that aren't technically correct so we can have snapshots of memories. With that aside...

Our youngest son, Aaron, is now 14 months old. He has had some baby curls and his hair has been growing quite long. Thoughts of Samson and Delilah floated thru my head. How long could I procrastinate before giving him a real haircut? I had snipped the ends and called it a haircut a month ago, but his hair seemed to grow even faster following that pseudo-cut. This weekend I had the nerve to really cut his hair so I just did it while I had the nerve. I set him in his highchair with a sucker in hand in front of the TV and snipped away. There was quite a pile of hair on the floor afterwards. And honestly, it felt like I was looking at him for the first time again. During his post-haircut bath I noticed one ear folds over a bit more than the other. Something I couldn't tell with his beautiful locks. ;)

So, here is our baby with his not-so-baby face. If anything, I think he's even more beautiful.
