All of a sudden today they can eat finger food! I've been having them practice with crackers and cheerios to get their pincer grasp going and introducing the texture difference of non-pureed foods. Usually - even yesterday - they kind of gag on finger food. Last week I started offering them pieces of well-cooked carrot from my ckn pot pie I made for dinner. They really liked that.
Then today I gave them some crackers and pieces of banana bread I cooked and they both were able to grab some off their tray and put it in their mouth, gum it, and swallow! Yay! Then for lunch they ate some of my noodles with basil sauce and some pieces of colby cheese.
Since they did so well, I made them 'Eggy Yolk Scramble' from the: wholesomebabyfood.com/
website. This is the recipe:
heat a Tblsp of olive oil in a skillet
add 1 c. cooked oatmeal and 1/4 c cooked veg or fruit (I did sweet potato)
stir in pan
add 2 egg yolks and scramble until egg is cooked
Then since it is kind of a gooey food, you pull it into pieces as finger food. They both really liked it. I don't think they ate as much as they would with me spoon feeding them pureed food, so I gave them some applesauce after (and they had just both drank 5 oz bottles of breastmilk). This is exciting to me :)
