This weekend a low-flying jet flew over our house and it was loud. Celia was a bit scared and Nicholas went over to her and took her by the shoulders, looked her in the eyes and said something to her and then gave her a hug and a kiss. Then he walked over to me and said 'nice plane'. So, I think he was telling Celia it was a 'nice plane' and she shouldn't worry. That was completely on his own - no one told him to go reassure her.
Tuesday this week, a big thunderstorm hit in the afternoon. We've had such a mild summer that this was the first time they have heard loud cracking thunder. Personally, as long as we're safe, I like big storms, so I purposely act even more excited about storms with them so that they don't get scared. Nicholas thought the storm was pretty cool but Celia was getting a little bit worried. Nicholas walked up to her in the hallway and again, looked into her eyes (as if he is a lot older than her) and said "You scared? Hugs and Kisses." and then he hugged and kissed her. What a sweetheart!
Both Nicholas and Celia can read emotions pretty well and its so neat to see him seeing her being a little uncomfortable and trying to reassure her - and they're only 2! Makes me so happy. :)
We did a re-enactment. ha ha!

That is really sweet! was it really thundering outside too? Celia does look a little scared in the re-enactment. What a sweet boy Nicholas is...
ReplyDeleteSo funny and so sweet! Z&J are starting this too. At the pedi yesterday for Jake's hives, the doc was looking in his mouth with one of those tongue depressors and Jake gagged and Zack was upset and kept saying Jake was going to throw up. He always asks Jake if he's ok after hurting himself and Jake usually says, "yeah....I'm fine!" N is so sweet to C.... :)
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable!!!!! He is such a sweetie. That will be nice when she starts dating- he'll always have her back! ;)
ReplyDeleteL&D have started this a little, too. Mostly b/c it's Drew having to give a hug and say sorry for doing something to Libby. But today out of the blue, she did it to him when he got hurt outside. Makes your heart melt.
