Looking at the turtles:
Nicholas, Celia and I went to Petco yesterday for some free fun. Jason and I have taken them there on weekends sometimes just to walk around. Its like a little zoo in there. So I put Nicholas and Celia in a cart and we walked around and looked at all the animals and talked about them. Nicholas top creature was the red eared slider turtles. He just loved watching them. Celia's favorites were the little mice running on their wheels. I saw another mom with 2 kids in a cart just walking around looking at animals too. Another mom needing something to do with her kids. ha ha
We saw a boa constrictor, large frog, geckos, lizards, turtles, fish, many birds, gerbils, ferrets, mice, guinea pigs, chinchilla's and probably some other animals I am forgetting. One of the employees at Petco was cleaning the ferret cage and held a ferret for Nicholas and Celia to pet. Celia loved the ferret and pet it, but Nicholas, being our more cautious child, preferred to observe the ferret with his arms curled to his chest and his eyes half-closed. ha ha
Here they are saying 'hi turtle"
We have a book that Nicholas and Celia love called, "Here are my hands". The book goes through the body parts using a cute rhyme. The picture of the ears shows a child listening to a seashell. So near the hermit crabs there was a bunch of empty seashells people could buy. So we grabbed a shell and I showed them how to listen to the shell. I really think they heard the noise because they listened carefully.
looks like a fun free outing!!! love hearing them say 'hi turtles!'...thats so sweet!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! You know some day you're going to come home with additional "passengers" in your car!
ReplyDeleteWe do the same thing! It's so nice to just walk around and look at the animals without paying - lol. I love Celia's facial expression with the shell. I think that would be funny if you came home with additional "passengers" ha ha.
ReplyDeleteWe've done this, too, especially on really hot summer days. But we haven't been back in a while, so we'll have to make another trip out there soon. I just love Nicholas talking to the turtle. And that photo of Celia with the shell is priceless! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Love the pictures of them listening to the shells! Celia looks like they must be calling her name from in there or telling a joke! And Nicholas is trying to figure out the sound.
ReplyDeleteYep...we've done it too. I think we're about due for another trip! Great pictures and love them saying hi to the turtle! Sweet!
