15 month appointment

Today was Nicholas and Celia's 15 month appointment (4 days before they turn 16 months, ha ha). It went very well. These are their weights/heights:

Nicholas 22lbs 2oz (10-25%)
32 3/4 inches (75-90%)

Celia 18lbs 12oz (<5%) 31 1/4 inches (50-75%) He was happy that they are following their own growth curve even though they are on the light side. No concerns there. I had to brag that Nicholas can stack 6-9 blocks on his own. The Dr said that is really very good since generally they see stacking 3 at 18 months. He said it is very good hand-eye coordination and planning on his part. I told him how Celia is very careful to give Nicholas his froggy and nuk when he is upset and how she will share so nicely with him. He said that kind of empathy is unusual in toddlers their age. I asked if it is more common in twins and he said "not necessarily, but when you do see it in children it tends to be more so with twins than singletons, but it isn't really that common as a twin trait". He also said that they should be able to follow 1-step directions at this age and I said I think N&C have very good receptive language since they can follow directions like "Nicholas give Celia a cookie" or "Celia, give Nicholas his car". He said those are actually 3-step directions, which is really good. Since 1 step is knowing who we are addressing, 2. understanding the subject and action involved and 3. giving it to the intended person. Sorry, I am bragging here. lol Just a mommy-moment.
He said saying 1 word is good at this time for their age, so he is happy with their speech too.

So, we go back in 3 months. I told him I would like to wait until they are over 2 years old to do the MMR and he said "thats reasonable. There have been cases of measles, but none in our immediate area, so they should be fine". wow! Way easier than I thought. I thought I would hear protest! So it went well! Great to have healthy children!

This is a video clip of Nicholas trying to sweep the house. That boy loves all things that 'work' like vacuums, brooms, mops, etc. Maybe he will be a good helper when he is older. :) It is a funny clip since Nicholas is getting frustrated when the broom won't go over the rug and then Celia covers my camera like she is protecting him and saying "no pictures". lol

Glad their appt. went so well. Did you go by yourself? Cute video---might have to get Nicholas a hand vac---he'd love it!

  2. Can you send Nicholas over to my house and sweep? He does a pretty good job of pushing that broom. And that was really cute when Celia push the camera away, she protects her brother so nicely :). Those are good weights and lengths on N&C. They are going to be tall when they get older!

  3. Glad the doc's appointment went well. You have every right to brag -- they are the smartest twins in our family! and by far the cutest! Enjoyed the video. If Nicholas needs a job, you can send him my way; we have a little hand held vacuum that has his name on it :-)
