My Second Mother's Day

I woke up this morning at 7am and was so happy (usually getting up before the twins isn't anything worth getting excited about). Jason and I planned Saturday what to do for Mother's Day so I was looking forward to today.
I quickly got myself ready and then got N&C up at 7:30. They ate their oatmeal, yogurt and pears and we hopped in the car to go to church. We went to our 'old' church Northbrook church for a change. I am so glad we did. The message was so moving and it was so nice to sit through an entire service. We actually took N&C to the nursery care. I like Northbrook's nursery care since it is a room made for little toddlers. N&C were fine when we left, but even leaving them for that hour and 15 min I was sad to leave them. Aside from my mom and maybe one time when some ladies from our small group watched N&C, they haven't been with 'strangers'. When we went to go get them Celia was crying (I guess she cried when she realized we were gone too in the beginning) , but Nicholas was playing. They said they did well. We really enjoyed the message at church so we look forward to being able to hear more messages there in the future.

On the way home from church Nicholas about passed out in the car from being so exhausted with the new environment. Once we were home from our 20 min drive Jason gave me Mother's Day cards and money towards a massage. Then we left again to go to Culvers for lunch. We thought about going to a sit-down restaurant, but figured this would be good enough. It was so much fun. N&C had a hotdog and a bazillion french fries. Then Jason and I let them have a special sip of our rootbeer (Nicholas is now a major rootbeer fan). I had no intent of letting them have soda. It just happened. lol But, it will be very few and far between sips. After our lunch we got ice cream. I had strawberry shortcake and Jason had a chocolate sundae. After some bites of ice cream and having had soda sips and fries, etc N&C were HILARIOUS . They were smiling all crazy and screaming and Celia was saying "hi" to everyone. Jason and I were laughing so hard at how they were all cooky from the sugar. It was a super fun time though. The other funny thing is there were 3 other sets of twins in the Culvers dining room. 1 identical set of 13 year old girls, 20-something identical boys, a set of boy/girl twins that were 13 mos old and then N&C. It was like Twin Day at Culvers.
Then after lunch we came home and the whole family napped from 12:30 (Jason and I at 1:00)-3:00. It was awesome to get such a nice nap. I felt like it was nighttime and I was in such a deep sleep. I love naps like that, but its tough to get back up from those ones.
Then we went to my parents house to spend time with them. We played there and had dinner there as well. What a great day! We made Grandma M. a special Mother's Day gift since she helps us out so much with the twins (she is our babysitter!). It was a garden stone kit where N&C put their footprints in it and then Jason and I put stained glass mosaics in the footprints. It was fun to make. The words say 'Nicholas' 'Celia' '2008'. Celia's footprints are at the top and Nicholas' on the bottom. You can see a big size difference (Nicholas has big hands and feet).

I just LOVE my life. I wouldn't change one teeny tiny thing about it. I know I am just so blessed to have friends, family, children, a husband, our home, health, church, jobs, .... just everything. I just couldn't imagine anything better. All the tough things I have been through wouldn't have brought me to this place, so they were all worth going through. Any time there is something tough to go through I honestly believe it will ALWAYS get better.
At night I have been reading to N&C in the rocking chair in their room. I read Time for Bed and Goodnight Moon each night. They sit nicely and listen to the stories and then its time for kisses and off to bed. Its so sweet for me to be able to hold them at the same time.
This was a perfect Mother's Day.

  1. Sounds like you had a fun and busy Mother's day Jill! I'm glad N&C did well in the nursery. Mine tend to cry when we drop them off but when we pick them up they are playing. I remember the first time dropping them off was really hard, I thought about them the whole service. And Culvers sounds really good, I don't think we have those in Arizona. That is so funny that they got all hiped up on sugar, I bet they were loving that! Kat gets a little crazy after ice cream, you can see the sugar rush. And your garden stone turned out really good, what a nice gift for grandma! The picture of you reading to them is so sweet, I'm glad you had a perfect Mother's Day!!

  3. What a busy day you had. But it sounds like it was a great Mother's Day for you! I laughed b/c Libby was the same way when she had her bday cake-- like she was drunk she was so giddy. I mean just laughing and rolling around and CRAZY. It's freaky. The stepping stone is so adorable and such a nice present (gives me some good ideas for my mom). ;) I'm glad you are so happy with your babies. They really are adorable. And we read those same books, too. I need to get a photo of us doing it so I can always remember. ;)

  7. What a great day you had and what a beautiful garden stone for Grandma. :) I can't believe the size difference in N&C's feet!?!?! My guys are the same size except Zack's feet are a little bit narrower. N sounds like my guys....they love sips of soda every now and then. I've not really noticed a difference in them though when they have soda, cake, fries....stuff like that. *L*
