Nicholas and Celia are done with the bedtime bottle. I didn't really want them to be done this early, but they sort of weaned themselves. :( I liked having one last thing like they were little babies drinking their bottles. It kind of happened at the same time we started reading bedtime books. It sort of replaced the habit of drinking a bottle. I offered them a bottle for a while longer but they were hit or miss with drinking some of it or not at all. So, we just started doing it every other night and then not at all, and they don't seem to care. And when the little boy (7 months old) I babysit is here and he drinks his bottle, they don't seem to mind seeing his bottle at all either.
So, since they aren't having a bedtime bottle their diapers haven't been as soaked in the morning. We have used disposable diapers at night since they were 7 mos old and sleeping through the night because we didn't want them to leak. However, now that they aren't peeing as much at night we have started wearing cloth at night with an extra insert for absorbency. So now we only need disposables if we are traveling. That will save money. We usually spend $20 or so on disposables a month, so now it will be much less. Yippee!!! I was also thinking we will be able to use the cloth diapers (they can wear these up to 35 lbs) instead of pull-ups when they are older and potty trained, but not night-trained. These cloth diapers have saved us a TON of money. And they still look like brand-new. So if we do have another child someday, we can use the same diapers. Some people argue that cloth diapers are just as harsh on the environment because we have to wash them and use water. But, I recently read where someone countered that by saying "I'll believe that argument when we all start wearing disposable clothes because that is better for the environment". ha ha, I thought that was good.
Celia has almost all 4 molars now. Her bottom left one is coming through, but the other 3 are in. Nicholas doesn't have any through yet. Just a bumpy lower right where the molar is moving. He was pretty drooly and crabby this afternoon/evening, so I wonder if that is why? At least they didn't go through it the same time.
Another cheery story for you all. Tonight after dinner I had them get in the bath. As the bath was filling and they were in the bath I was looking in the mirror at a nice pimple I had going on. I turn to peek at them and see them playing with some brown floaty things in the water (can you guess???). Yes, Nicholas pooped almost immediately in the water and they were having fun playing and scooping the poop up. So, I pulled them out of the water. Turned off the water and started scooping the poop out with a little cup and pouring it into the potty. They watched carefully as I worked. Then I had to drain the tub and clean it out with cleaner before they could get back in. Such a nice way to end the day. ha ha

Oh boy ... and the bath tub pictures are where??!! I'm glad you can laugh about it at least.
ReplyDeleteYou make me wish I had done cloth diapers. Not sure I could have withstood all the extra laundry though, esp. with DH being ill, but I wish I'd had.
At least those little ones keep giving you material for your blog :-) Can't believe Celia has 4 molars in already! Would have expected Nicholas to be first since he was the bigger of the two... guess that doesn't matter when it comes to teeth.
ReplyDeleteLOL Aren't they getting so very good at entertaining themselves!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Jill, you always have some good stories to share!!! Hey, at least it keeps your bathtub clean?!?!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Celia has 4 molars,we don't have any, but I keep blaming everything on teething, so they better get them soon!
There are days when I wish we would have done cloth diapers as well, I'm sure we would have saved a load of money. Plus the environment thing :).Funny story about the poop in the tub, they were probably wondering what the big deal was - lol. I hope Nicholas gets those molars to pop through soon, I'm sure that has a lot to do with his crabbiness.
