The Zoo and Flowers

We had a VERY busy weekend! Saturday morning we were in the car by 8:45am to go to rummage sales. We found a toddler bowling set and an outfit for Nicholas when he is older. We got home and fed them lunch and then they napped. Once they woke up we (Grandma joined us too) hopped back in the van and drove to meet Aunt Angela, Uncle Russ and baby Lauren at the zoo. We had a great time at the zoo. I think their favorite part was the huge fish tanks this time. Last time (we went 2x this week) they liked the monkeys swinging in their cages). Towards the end of the time at the zoo Nicholas and Celia walked so well with us. Celia actually walked with her little monkey child leash and Nicholas held onto Jason's hand. It was cute to see them walking so well on their own at the Zoo.
By 5pm the Zoo was closing and we left to go to Aunt Angy's house for dinner. We had grilled hotdogs, fries, and watermelon. At 7:30 (they are usually in bed by 7pm at the latest) Nicholas was starting to cry his tired cry and Celia was getting that zombie look. We had them in their pajamas and started the drive home (30 minutes or so). They slept on the way home and we just carried them into bed and they didn't wake up until morning. This was the first time we have done that and it worked so well. They didn't fully wake up until 8:30am this morning, so they were pretty tired!
So this morning right after breakfast N&C, my mom and I all drove to a great floral shoppe to get flowers for the yard. We were gone from 9:30 to 11:40 at the flower shoppe (its huge) and they did SO well. Nicholas got down to walk in the greenhouse for a while and he was giggling as he walked. Everytime I would say (in a sing-song way) "Nicholas" from behind (as I am following him) he would just laugh. The only time they cried was when we had to pick them up from walking so we could check-out. Since it was so late we stopped at a Custard shoppe and had lunch. Then they napped on the way home. My mom/Grandma and I carried them into their bedroom to finish their naps. Nicholas woke up almost right away but I had him stay in there for quiet time (hoping he would fall asleep). But Celia slept so well for a couple hours.
After an afternoon of playing, dinner and a bath they were exhausted and in bed by 6:30 (I'm pretty exhausted too!).
They were so well behaved this weekend.

And I also meant to say, Nicholas is using signs so wonderfully now! He signs what he is thinking and for what he wants. Its so fun to see! AND Celia said "outside" (3x) and "ball" today. Of course, when I tried to get her to say it to other people, she wouldn't!
Tonight I took some pictures of them. They are really looking older to me. :)

  1. They sound like they did so well for you this weekend, almost like they are enjoying more freedom like big kids have. Especially with walking along side you guys, that's awesome. We tried that with Kat this weekend at the store and it didn't quite go so well. It sounds like you guys had a really fun weekend. And they do look like older in these pictures, more toddler like! I like Nicholas expression in that last pic :).
