A sticky visitor

Last night when Jason and I were turning out the lights to head to bed, I noticed a little frog sticking to the outside of our patio door. So, of course we had to take a couple pictures. The spring frogs are starting to chirp at night and I just love that noise. I don't want them in our house, but I love the sounds of summer nights. Almost all summer we have the windows open at night because I just love the sounds. Its so calming to me.

Nicholas was being a little grumpy this morning and at one point he hit Celia on her eye. :( This isn't usually like him, but I felt so bad for Celia. Times like that are tough because I want to make her feel better, teach him that we should be kind to each other, and also figure out what is making him act out. Poor Celia gets hives when she cries hard (the only other person I know like this is my sister, their Aunt Angy), so she had hives on her face because Nicholas must've poked her in the eye when he hit her head. Poor girl :(. I figured out that he must've been acting like this because I can see one molar almost through and another not far behind, and a some bottom teeth coming through. So after some Motrin and some oragel he was back to his normal self. However, he will have to learn that that behavior is not okay, but I suppose toddlers have trouble expressing that they are in a pain like teething. Perhaps some time-outs are coming their way (cause Celia has had her moments of hitting or pushing Nicholas too in frustration) though. Luckily, they are normally very kind to each other and loving. I try so hard to be understanding, patient and loving that I hope I can also be good at discipline when it warrants it. Its tough when you love your children so much, but I know its best to teach them now when they are little, versus when they are older and out of control. Its something I will have to work on.
Celia has been very cuddly lately. I guess she is turning out to be a cuddler in her own way. She doesn't necessarily like the same cuddling Nicholas does (he loves to be held and rocked), but I guess she likes to be touched in her own way. She likes to sit on your lap or be held. Actually this morning when I took N&C and the little baby I watch on a walk, I carried Celia in the Ergo carrier. She actually fell asleep in the carrier , which she hasn't done in a LONG time (maybe since last Fall when she was 9 mos old). Let me tell you, taking 3 kids on a walk up and down our hilly neighborhood sure is a work-out! And this gym-membership is free!

  1. That frog looks so cool, I love frogs! We don't really get them here, at least that I have noticed. You should do a frog photo project :).

I am having the same issues with Brody hitting Kat, but I think with him he thinks he is playing. Kat cries every time and it is so sad. They will learn, and it is better to teach them now that it's not right rather than when they are older (like you said). Celia cuddles like Kat cuddles. She wants to sit in my lap and constantly be near me, but she doesn't want to lay her head down on my shoulder and be hugged and rocked like Brody.

Sounds like you got a good workout today!

  2. Love the frog pic Jill!!! Too funny!
We have had some issues lately too with behavior, I have been blaming it on the antibiotic, but Eli opened his mouth real wide a few minutes ago and OH MY! His gums are SO swollen, he has a molar ready to pop through! Won't you be glad when this teething business is over?
